Court Sets April Pre-Trial Conference For Prof. Prasad Matter

The Suva Magistrates Court has scheduled the pre-trial conference for Member of Parliament and former Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Biman Prasad, to be held in April.
The matter was called for mention today before Resident Magistrate Yogesh Prasad. During proceedings, the court sought clarification from the prosecution on the next steps.
Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Acting Principal State Counsel, Joseph Work, informed the court that the prosecution intends to forward its proposed agreed facts and documents.
The court also enquired about the stay proceedings, which do not affect the substantive matter. Mr. Work advised that the stay application is scheduled for hearing on 18 March 2026.
Defence counsel, Ashish Nand, indicated that no agreements have been reached and that any agreement would be subject to his client’s instructions.
The matter has been adjourned to 20 April for pre-trial conference.
