The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) held its first church service of the year this morning at the Centenary Methodist Church in Suva.
The service was attended by Commissioner Barbara Malimali, Manager Investigation Kuliniasi Saumi, Manager Corruption Prevention Kolora Celua, Manager Administration Lorraine Fesaitu and FICAC staff.
Personnel based in the Lautoka and Labasa offices attended the service virtually.
In delivering the sermon, Deputy Divisional Superintendent of Suva Circuit, Reverend Sekope Waqa says January is a time when people set their goals and New Year resolutions that they wish to achieve during the year ahead.
He reminded the officers to take the time to reflect on their weaknesses from the previous year and how to do better.
Reverend Waqa adds that when you present your plans to God, everything will fall into place.
He says 2024 was a year laced with many trials and tribulations but we should be grateful and humble enough to learn the lessons that it provided and enter the new year with renewed faith and hope.
The church service emphasized the network and collaborative spirit of the FICAC staff in their efforts to combat corruption.
FICAC remains resolute in its stand to upholding the values of independence, professionalism, integrity, commitment and impartiality.
Following the church service, the FICAC staff broke bread together as a team before beginning their work for the day.
