Posted by Media Team 12 February 2026
Behind every successful investigation is a dedicated officer committed to integrity, professionalism and continuous growth.
For Acting Team Leader Investigation, Mr. Nawal Kumar, the journey to where he is today has been one of perseverance, lifelong learning and unwavering dedication to public service.
Mr. Kumar began his academic journey in Macuata, first at Solove Primary School before continuing to Seaqaqa Central College.
Years later, driven by a passion to strengthen his expertise, he pursued a Diploma in Business Accounting from Fiji National University in 2012 — the same year he was building his career in the private sector as a Senior Accounts/Payroll Officer at Fletcher Construction Fiji.
In 2012, he joined the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (the “Commission”) as an Accounts Assistant.
What started as a role in finance soon evolved into a calling in investigations and anti-corruption work.
Through determination and hard work, Mr. Kumar steadily progressed through the ranks, from Assistant Registry Officer to Assistant Commission Against Corruption Officer, Assistant Investigator, Investigator, and now Acting Team Leader.
Understanding that corruption investigations require both skill and specialised knowledge, Mr. Kumar invested heavily in professional development.
He completed the Investigators Course (CID Level 2) with the Fiji Police Force and further enhanced his expertise internationally at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy in Intelligence-Based Investigation.
His commitment to excellence saw him complete a Bachelor in Commerce (Professional Accounting) in 2025, and he is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Investigation at the University of the South Pacific.
A proud Associate Member of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants, Mr. Kumar embodies professionalism, attention to detail and high standards in every task he undertakes.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Kumar shares that his objective has always been clear, to utilise his qualifications, knowledge and skills in the field of fraud and investigation to make a meaningful difference.
Today, as Acting Team Leader Investigation, he continues to mentor fellow officers while leading complex investigations with diligence and integrity.
His story is a powerful reminder that growth is a continuous process, and with commitment and self-belief, opportunities for advancement are within reach.
The Commission congratulates Mr. Nawal Kumar on his achievements and thanks him for his dedicated service in the fight against corruption.
