The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has closed its case in the trial against former Minister for Fisheries and Forestry Kalaveti Ravu and former Fisheries Regional Manager North Tekata Toaisi.
This comes after the four remaining prosecution witnesses took to the witness stand yesterday.
Ministry of Fisheries Human Resources Manager Mataiasi Vakamoce, Fisheries Compliance Officers Emoni Buatava and George Nabuliwaqa and FICAC Investigator Meredani Tokainakoro were called in to give their testimonies in Court.
The matter was adjourned to today (Wednesday 12 February 2025) for the hearing on the admissibility of certain documents and testimonies that the prosecution presented during the course of the trial.
Ravu is charged with One Count of Abuse of Office while Toaisi is charged with One Count of Abetting Abuse of Office.

It is alleged that Ravu and Toaisi interfered in a Ministry of Fisheries investigation in the illegal trade of banned species of beche-de-mer on July 25 2023.
