Case to Answer for Former WAF Project Asst. Manager
Posted by Media Team 23 February 2026
The Suva Magistrates Court has ruled that former Water Authority of Fiji Assistant Project Manager Vilimaina Kalokalo has a case to answer on one count of Abuse of Office, charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.
Ms. Kalokalo’s counsel applied for a no-case-to-answer.
However, Resident Magistrate Pulekeria Low found that the prosecution had presented relevant and admissible evidence implicating the accused.
It is alleged that between 1 April 2016 and 31 May 2016, Ms. Kalokalo facilitated the processing of false payments for the purpose of gain totalling $13,348.19 for crop compensation claims related to the Painapiu Sewage Project.
Magistrate Low ruled that, taking the prosecution’s evidence at its highest, a reasonable tribunal could convict.
The accused will now have to present her defence
Ms. Kalokalo has 28 days to appeal the ruling.
The accused was represented by Nemani Tuifagalele while FICAC Counsel Joshua Prasad appeared for the prosecution.
