FICAC Break-In Two Months Ago: No Files Stolen
Posted by Media Team 12 December 2024
The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) wishes to address recent postings on social media regarding a break-in at its Headquarters and claims of stolen investigation files.
FICAC confirms that a break-in did occur at its Headquarters two months ago; however, the claims circulating on social media about missing files are false. Upon discovering the break-in, FICAC initiated an investigation immediately including viewing CCTV footage.
FICAC confirms that no investigation files, including those related to Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad and seven other Ministers, were taken during the break-in.
FICAC assures the public that all investigation materials, files, and exhibits are securely stored and managed by our Registry Officers.
FICAC wishes to remind the general public to avoid making public statements that are factually incorrect or posting defamatory content on social media, as doing so constitutes a criminal offence.
