2025 NEW YEAR MESSAGE

The Office of the Commissioner extends greetings to both public members and FICAC staff members.

As we embark on this new year, let us renew our commitment to a corruption-free future. By working together, we can create a nation where honesty, integrity, and justice prevail.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has been carrying out its pivotal role in the fight against corruption through investigations and prosecution and through education and awareness, and we will continue to carry out our roles and responsibilities diligently and work with our stakeholders and the public to free our country from corruption, which would benefit every citizen of Fiji in the new year.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption faced numerous criticisms last year, leading many to doubt our process and subject our hard-working staff members to social media bullying. We have remained steadfast, our compass fixed on the true cause of our mandate. Despite the turbulent seas, we have pressed forward, our eyes on the horizon and our hearts filled with the unwavering commitment to serve the nation.

We have continued our commitment to eradicating corruption and upholding the principles of ethical governance, transparency, and accountability. We have tirelessly dispatched our dedicated officers to investigate, prosecute, and convict individuals involved in corrupt activities, thereby sending a strong message that such behaviour will not tolerate.

We have further strengthened our strategic approach to combating corruption, focusing on public education and awareness campaigns. By empowering citizens to recognize and report corrupt practices, we're fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

We have also deepened our partnership with government agencies, civil society organisations, and international partners to enhance our collaborative efforts in the fight against corruption.

You all have done tremendous work for the commission in the fight against corruption. I expect the same from each and every officer in 2025. Undoubtedly, there will be a lot of people who will undermine our work and attack us and our family and friends on social media, but my only message is that we are doing this for Fiji, and as long as your heart is pure in your line of work and you follow the procedures and processes of the commission, nothing should let you down.

To our legal team, you are the eagle of the commission, soaring above the mundane, your keen eyes piercing through the fog of legal jargon. You precisely dissect each case, plucking out the key details and weaving them into a compelling narrative. With a stroke of your pen, you craft powerful arguments, your words as sharp as talons, ready to strike at the heart of injustice. You are the guardians of truth, ensuring that justice prevails in the face of adversity.

To our investigators, you are the silent guardians of Fiji's integrity, diving beneath the serene surface of our paradise to unearth the hidden darkness.

With a keen eye and a relentless spirit, you navigate the treacherous waters of corruption, emerging with the truth. Your dedication to justice is unwavering, and your commitment to our nation is inspiring.

Our Corruption Prevention Officers dedicate their personal time, stepping into communities to instill integrity and accountability. Your tireless efforts to educate and empower individuals and organizations are a testament to their dedication. You are the architects of a brighter future, shaping a Fiji where honesty and transparency reign supreme.

To our media team, you are the storytellers, the bridge between our work and the public. With every word, every image, and every video, you shape perceptions and inspire change. Your ability to translate complex legal and investigative processes into engaging and informative content is truly remarkable. Your dedication to informing the public and holding those accountable is a vital part of our mission. I commend your tireless efforts and commitment to excellence.

To our admin team, security officers, and drivers, you are the backbone of our organisation, the unsung heroes who keep the wheels turning. From the meticulous work of our admin staff to the tireless efforts of our drivers and security personnel, your contributions are invaluable. Your dedication ensures the smooth operation of our mission, allowing us to focus on our core objectives.

As we look ahead to 2025, FICAC remains resolute in its mission to create a corruption-free Fiji. We will continue to invest in our workforce, leverage technology, and refine our strategies to effectively address emerging challenges. We urge all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

We are grateful for the continued support and trust of the Fijian people. Together, we can build a brighter future for our nation—one that is free from corruption and characterized by good governance.
