EASTER SUNDAY MESSAGE
Posted by Media Team 18 April 2025
On behalf of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), I wish you all a blessed Easter Sunday.
This Easter Sunday, as we reflect on the spirit of renewal and the triumph of truth, let us also turn our gaze to the enduring battle against corruption, a scourge that erodes the very foundations of our society. Just as the dawn breaks after a long night, we must strive to illuminate the shadows where deceit and self-interest thrive, demanding accountability and unwavering integrity from those entrusted with public service. For the promise of a just and equitable future, a future where the hopes of our nation are not betrayed by the insidious poison of corruption, rests upon our collective resolve to act, to speak, and to persevere.
Easter Sunday, a day of resurrection and new beginnings, mirrors the very mission of FICAC. Just as the stone was rolled away, revealing the light of hope, we too must relentlessly roll away the stones of corruption, exposing the darkness that hides within our institutions, and ushering in an era of transparency and accountability, a rebirth of integrity.
Today is conventionally a day for repose and reflection, offering a distinctive opportunity to assess the resurgence of integrity throughout our public sector. Like the disciples wrestling with the meaning of Easter, we at FICAC confront the consequences of corruption, its widespread prevalence, and its harmful effects on society. We are the initial agents of integrity's resurgence in Fiji.
Our enquiries aim not just to identify misbehaviour but also to cultivate a sense of responsibility and promote a culture of integrity. Each case we undertake demonstrates the belief that renewal is attainable, even amidst profound corruption. We cultivate public trust, fostering an environment where ethical conduct and transparency prevail.
Consider the "empty tomb" as a symbol for the eradication of corruption. FICAC seeks to eradicate corrupt practices, akin to the empty tomb symbolising a new beginning, hence fostering an environment conducive to ethical governance. Founded on a solid foundation of honesty, we are the architects of a new paradigm.
I urge each of you this Easter Sunday to reflect on your role in this resurgence. You are integral to this transformative process, whether as a FICAC officer, a public servant, or a citizen.
Thank You, Vinaka Vakalevu and dhanyavaad.
