CHRISTMAS DAY MESSAGE

Bula Vinaka and a very Good Morning to you all.

As we approach the end of yet another year, on behalf of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), I extend my warmest season’s greetings to each one of you.

Christmas is not just a time for gifts and decorations, but a time for reflection, love, and togetherness.

It’s a reminder that no matter where we are in the world, what really matters is the love we share with those around us.

I want to express my deepest appreciation to the people of Fiji, in particular, our various stakeholders and key partners for your unwavering support, partnership and collaboration throughout this year.

Your trust and commitment to our shared goal of fostering integrity, transparency and accountability has been instrumental in our efforts to combat corruption.

Together, we have achieved significant milestones amidst strides towards creating a fairer and just society.

As we commemorate the true spirit of Christmas and the reason for the season, which is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to build a society rooted in honesty, accountability and fairness.

2024 has not been the easiest of years for the Commission.

FICAC has been through a tumultuous year this year.

Trials and tribulations are an inseparable part of life, just as moments of happiness and joy are.

I am reminded of a Chinese proverb that says, “Out of the hottest fire comes the strongest steel”.

We all face difficulty and adversity but it is those really tough situations that truly forge our hearts, character and integrity.

And for that, I must acknowledge the staff of FICAC who work tirelessly in carrying out the vision of the Commission in ensuring the people of Fiji live a life free of corruption.

May the joy of Christmas fill your hearts with warmth and may the coming year bring prosperity, renewed hope and success in our shared mission for a corruption-free Fiji
